Working on Speech and Language Goals at Home
Boomerang Health Speech Language Pathologists share examples of ways to use household objects to work on speech and language goals with your children at home.
- Toss a beanbag to picture cards with your child’s target sound. Have your child practice their sounds or words every time a beanbag lands on a card.
- When working on concept knowledge, have your child match the colour of beanbags to other toys around the house. Label the concepts “same” or “different” with each turn.
- Lastly, if your child needs help to have a back-and-forth conversation, play a game of catch! Toss the beanbag to your partner every time you ask them a question or make a comment.
