Responsibilities:
Paediatric Patient Care
- Provide comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and intervention to children with movement dysfunction related to neurological or musculoskeletal conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each child’s unique needs.
- Provide therapeutic interventions focusing on improving mobility, strength, coordination, and motor skills.
- Follow an evidence-based approach to assessment and treatment.
- Manage a varied caseload and meet required timelines.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records using the Electronic Medical Record system.
Patient and Family Education
- Provide clear education to patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, home care programs and strategies to support the child’s overall well-being.
- Collaborate with caregivers to ensure continuity of care and promote a positive and supportive environment for the child.
Collaborative Multidisciplinary Teamwork
- Collaborate effectively with Boomerang Health’s growing multidisciplinary team, including physicians and a wide array of rehabilitation clinicians, to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
- Collaborate with community partners.
Professional Development
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and development within the field of paediatric physiotherapy.
- Engage in training sessions and workshops to stay updated on the latest research and advancements in paediatric physical therapy.
- Take advantage of opportunities for mentorship within the organization to foster personal and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Master’s/Baccalaureate in Physical Therapy.
- Previous experience or strong interest in paediatric assessment/treatment.
- Physiotherapy Residents accepted; mentorship is available.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
- Must carry professional liability insurance.
Experience/Skills
- Proficiency in assessment and providing evidence-based orthopaedic and neurodevelopmental interventions for infants/toddlers, children, and adolescents.
- Experience working in a community-based or outpatient-based physiotherapy setting preferable.
- Comfortable working with children aged newborn to 18 years.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and to interact with children and adults.
- Utilizes critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Efficient time management and organizational skills required
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
