Psychometrist
Melissa Glazer (M.A., Ph.D. Candidate) works with children, adolescents, and caregivers to support psychological well-being using a client-centered, neuroaffirming, and systems perspective. She specializes in evidence-based therapies to assist a wide range of presenting concerns, including anxiety, mood, emotional regulation, learning and attention difficulties, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, and self-esteem. She uses an integrative approach of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, emotional identification, and a family systems framework. Melissa encompasses a social justice lens to ensure clients receive culturally informed care. Collaboration and providing a safe space are of the utmost importance within her work with her clients.
Melissa also specializes in psychological (e.g., anxiety and mood disorders), psychoeducational (e.g., learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities), and neurodevelopmental (e.g., ADHD and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) assessments for children and adolescents to help with the understanding of client’s areas of strength and difficulty within a learning context and in their day-to-day lives. She meets clients and caregivers where they are at to ensure a solid understanding of assessment findings. Melissa also aims to provide valuable and transferable recommendations for everyday functioning.
Melissa is finishing her doctoral program at the University of Calgary and has recently completed her pre-doctoral clinical psychology internship at Hôtel Dieu Hospital’s KidsInclusive-Centre for Child & Youth Development, Developmental Disabilities Consulting Program- Queen’s University, Dual Diagnosis Consultation Outreach Team – Providence Care, and Ongwanada Psychology Services.
