Boomerang Health Celebrates 10-year Anniversary Milestone!
On May 10, 2023, interdisciplinary health-care centre, Boomerang Health, celebrated its 10-year anniversary!
Located in Vaughan, Boomerang Health, powered by SickKids, provides a variety of health services, which include general and specialist paediatric services, as well as rehabilitation and developmental services, to children and youth in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
“When Boomerang Health first opened its doors a decade ago, we had a simple mission: to provide the best and highest quality care for children, youth and their families,” says Lara Pietrolungo, Executive Director, Boomerang Health. “Over the years, we’ve built a team of talented and dedicated administrators and health-care providers and have worked very hard to ensure an environment that is welcoming, compassionate, supportive, inclusive and safe.”
York Region dignitaries, including Honourable Steven Del Duca, Mayor of Vaughan, and other government representatives, as well as community partners, Boomerang Health and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) leadership, clinicians, and administrative staff were in attendance to mark this milestone event.
“SickKids has remained at the heart of Boomerang Health and is embedded in its unique model of health care delivery,” said Dr. Ronald Cohn, President and CEO, SickKids. “Every day, children, youth and their families receive the high-quality and comprehensive care for which SickKids is known and trusted, closer to home.”
Boomerang Health has been a critical resource in many families’ health-care journeys, offering a mix of innovation and family-centred care. When the clinic first launched in 2013, programs included psychology, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and sports medicine.
Now, Boomerang Health offers over 20 services, including medical and mental health services, rehabilitation and child development, adolescent medicine, group therapy, educational workshops for caregivers, virtual care, community involvement and more.
“I have seen the clinic grow from an idea for SickKids to connect and collaborate with the community in a new and exciting way, to a wonderful care hub that has served 40,000 families,” says Jeff Mainland, Boomerang Health’s Board Chair and Executive Vice-President, SickKids. “But it is really the staff who provide a seamless, positive and safe health care experience for every patient and family that comes through these doors or is seen virtually.”
As an extension of the SickKids community, Boomerang Health is pleased to celebrate a decade of high-quality patient care and community involvement and looks forward to continuing to grow!
