    Shelley Rafailov
    M.A.

    Psychometrist

    Shelley Rafailov, M.A., has over five years of experience in psychoeducational testing, specializing in the assessment and academic intervention of children and adolescents in both English and French. She has made significant contributions to research on multilingualism and literacy, particularly at the intersection of cognitive development and literacy in diverse educational settings. Shelley’s primary research interests focus on the factors influencing literacy development in French Immersion programs across Canada, with an emphasis on the role of executive functioning in reading comprehension among middle-grade students. Previously, she also studied the impact of ADHD symptoms on word reading abilities, investigating how attention-related challenges affect academic performance. In addition to her ongoing research, Shelley is currently involved in a SickKids-based study examining the social determinants of health and their effect on access to in-school academic support, with the goal of improving educational equity for all students.

    Shelley is currently pursuing a PhD in Developmental Psychology and Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. She holds a Master of Arts degree from OISE and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Psychology from the University of Toronto. With a deep passion for understanding the intersection of psychological and educational factors, Shelley is dedicated to advancing knowledge in developmental psychology to better support the diverse needs of students in various educational contexts
